Managing-Ailments-in-the-First-Trimester-of-Pregnancy

A variety of ailments, especially nausea and fatigue, often greet women in the first trimester of pregnancy.

For the majority of pregnancies, nausea will disappear by the second trimester. Nausea and fatigue only stick around for the second and third trimesters for approximately 9% of pregnancies, according to experts on pregnancy.

Here are 5 tips to help with nausea and fatigue in the first trimester:

Manage Nausea Through Food

A few tips include eating small, frequent meals or snacks to prevent blood sugar from dropping.

Manage Nausea With Essential Oils

Lavender and peppermint oils are both safe and effective during this time.

Manage Nausea With Ginger

Ginger has been used for a long time (like our grandma’s grandmas) to alleviate nausea. We love ginger, lemon, and organic honey tea.

Manage Nausea and Fatigue With Chiropractic Care

In the mother, chiropractic care prepares the pelvis for an easier pregnancy and birth by creating a state of balance in pelvic bony structures, muscles, and ligaments. Maternity chiropractic care also removes torsion of the ligaments that support the uterus and reduces interference to the mother’s vital nerve system.

Manage Fatigue With Physical Activity

This one is tough, but physical activity improves energy levels. General recommendations include a 10-20 minute walk or practicing 10 minutes of pregnancy-focused exercises found online. Sometimes that’s all you need to shift your energy. Other times, that’s all the movement you need for that day.

As long as at least one of these tips helps with nausea and fatigue in the first trimester, we’re one step closer to pain-free pregnancy.
